Job summary

Axos Bank is seeking a Software Development Manager, AVP to lead engineering delivery for Axos Bank's Core Services platform. You will own end-to-end design, development, delivery, and production stability across multiple backend services that underpin all lines of business.

This hands-on engineering leader role requires deep expertise in .NET and distributed systems, plus strong production ownership, incident management, and delivery governance.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience with 3+ years in engineering leadership roles.
• Strong expertise in .NET backend development, APIs, and distributed systems.
• Experience managing mission-critical, high-availability platforms and production support.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of Senior Engineers, Tech Leads, and offshore developers.
• Own end-to-end delivery of Core Services platforms (Identity, Rules Manager, Document, Notification, APIs).
• Drive high engineering standards for code quality, performance, scalability, and security.
• Ensure production stability and rapid incident resolution, including RCA and ITN participation.
• Partner with Product Owners to ensure clear requirements and realistic delivery commitments.
• Enforce release governance standards and QE approvals.
• Lead architecture discussions and modernization initiatives, including service isolation and caching.
• Champion OutSystems-based development where applicable and integrate with .NET services.
• Collaborate with Infra, DBA, and NOC teams on capacity planning and deployments.
• Build a culture of ownership, accountability, and after-hours support.
• Drive talent development, hiring, and performance management.
• Provide executive communication on delivery status, risks, incidents, and mitigation plans.
