Job summary

Collins Aerospace is seeking a Systems Engineer to join a global avionics team in Cedar Rapids, IA. You will capture, analyze, decompose, and trace system requirements, and develop innovative approaches that meet customer needs, cost targets, and program objectives.

You will design requirements, software, and test verification as needed, support cross‑functional teams of engineers and program managers, and be prepared for domestic and limited international travel (<10%). This onsite role offers a path to grow technical skills across the software product life cycle.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field.
• Experience in a systems/software engineering role.
• Experience developing, decomposing, and deriving requirements.
• Experience with Python scripting.

Responsibilities

• Capture, analyze, decompose, and trace System requirements.
• Develop design approaches that meet customer requirements, cost targets, and product line objectives.
• Design requirements, software, and test verification, depending on program need.
• Support teams of software and systems engineers to develop, integrate and release displays software products.
• Interact with a cross-functional team of engineers, engineering leaders, program managers, finance, quality, and production.
• Willingness to travel (domestic and international <10%).
