McFarland Johnson Inc. (MJ) seeks a Resident Engineer with 4–12 years of experience to oversee airport construction projects across the Northeast. The role involves direct work with airport clients, contractors and MJ teams on runway, taxiway, apron and related infrastructure improvements.

Projects may be at Boston Logan, Manchester-Boston, Nantucket and other regional airports. Based in MJ’s Northeast offices, the position offers field oversight, coordination, and opportunities to grow in a

Qualifications

4–12 years of experience in construction inspection, construction engineering or resident engineering.
Experience with civil infrastructure construction (pavement, grading, drainage, utilities).
Airport or highway construction experience preferred.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specs, and contract documents.
Willingness to travel to project sites in the Northeast.

Responsibilities

Provide on-site construction oversight to verify conformance with plans, specs and contract requirements.
Coordinate with contractors, airport staff, inspectors, and MJ project teams.
Monitor progress, workmanship, schedules, and material testing.
Maintain daily field reports, photos, quantity measurements and records.
Review contractor quantities and assist with payment recommendations.
Support RFIs, submittals and change orders coordination.
Identify issues and develop practical field solutions with the team.
Coordinate construction activities and phasing around airport operations.
Participate in progress meetings, punch lists, and project closeout.
