Job summary

Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson is seeking an Aviation Project Engineer to contribute to planning, design, and delivery of airport infrastructure in the Pittsburgh area. You will work with project managers, engineers, and clients, potentially leading design tasks and coordinating cross-disciplinary teams.

Ideal candidates have 8–15 years in aviation engineering, familiarity with airfield projects, and PA/OH licensure or reciprocity; travel to client sites may be required.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited B.S. in Civil Engineering required.
• Professional Engineer license in PA or OH or able to obtain via reciprocity.
• 8–15 years of aviation engineering or airport design experience.
• Experience with airfield projects and FAA guidance is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead or support design of aviation infrastructure (airfield, landside, utilities).
• Prepare calculations, plans, specs, reports, and cost estimates.
• Coordinate with clients, agencies, and subconsultants.
• Participate in planning, design development, and quality reviews.
• Support scope, schedule, staffing, and budgets.
• Attend client meetings and manage project communications.
• Ensure FAA standards and project requirements are applied.
