Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson, Inc. is seeking an Aviation Project Engineer to contribute to planning, design, and delivery of airport infrastructure in the Pittsburgh area.

The successful candidate will work with project managers, staff, clients, and subconsultants to deliver high‑quality engineering solutions and lead design efforts when appropriate. Candidates should have 8–15 years in aviation engineering, experience with airfield projects, and familiarity with FAA circulars and airport

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering from ABET-accredited program.
• Professional Engineer license in Pennsylvania or Ohio, or ability to obtain licensure via reciprocity.
• 8–15 years of aviation engineering/airport design experience.
• Experience with airfield projects (apron, taxiway, runway).
• Familiarity with FAA Advisory Circulars and airport design standards.
• Experience at commercial service airports.
• Pavement evaluation and pavement design experience.

Responsibilities

• Support or lead the design of aviation infrastructure projects including airfield, landside, utility, and site development improvements.
• Prepare calculations, plans, specifications, reports, cost estimates, and bid documents.
• Coordinate with project team members, clients, agencies, and subconsultants.
• Lead technical design efforts and coordinate multidisciplinary teams.
• Mentor developing engineers and staff development.
• Attend client meetings and manage schedules, budgets, and workload.
