Job summary

Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson (JMT) is seeking an Aviation Project Engineer to contribute to planning, design, and delivery of aviation infrastructure projects from moderate to complex scope. The role involves coordinating multi-disciplinary teams, supporting client relationships, and guiding developing engineers.

Occasional travel and Pittsburgh-area commuting are required. Ideal candidates will bring 8–15 years of aviation experience, familiarity with FAA Circulars, and strong design software

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• Professional Engineer license in PA or Ohio, or ability to obtain via reciprocity.
• 8–15 years of progressively responsible aviation/airport design experience.
• Experience with airfield projects (apron, taxiway, runway rehab/reconstruct).
• Familiarity with FAA Advisory Circulars, airport design standards, and federally funded airport projects.

Responsibilities

• Design aviation infrastructure projects (airfield, landside, utilities, site development).
• Prepare calculations, plans, specs, reports, and cost estimates.
• Coordinate with project teams, clients, and subconsultants.
• Lead design development and provide technical oversight where appropriate.
• Assist with project planning, scheduling, and budget monitoring.
• Engage with clients and regulatory agencies to support deliverables.
