Job summary

Colonial Group seeks a Tech-Advisor in South Portland, ME to support VIP automotive service standards. This role combines counter service, shop technician duties, and ongoing training to deliver a superior customer experience and productive billed hours.

Responsibilities include upholding safety, mastering VIP processes, obtaining ASE certifications (C1, P2, G1, A4, A5), keeping compliance with codes, and communicating with the team during daily huddles.

Qualifications

• One year of related experience in automotive service field.
• Two-year college or technical school program recommended.
• Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Current, valid driver’s license issued in state of residence.
• Equipment Safety Certification.
• ASE Certification C1 – Service Consultant required.
• ASE Certification P2 – Parts Specialist recommended.
• ASE Certification G1 – Maintenance and light repair recommended.
• ASE Certification A4 – Suspension & Steering.
• ASE Certification A5 – Brakes.
• State Inspection License Required (where applicable).

Responsibilities

• Make safety the priority and follow all safety policies, reporting unsafe conditions.
• Work at the counter as a service writer, educating customers about vehicle conditions.
• Work in the shop as a technician when needed and complete services per VIP standards.
• Complete LMS and vendor training and become certified for both roles.
• Achieve strong customer engagement and productive billed hours.
• Learn VIP processes and execute activities to improve the customer experience.
• Attend off-site trainings as needed, several times per year.
• Maintain facility and equipment, ensuring cleanliness and availability.
• Enforce compliance with service ethics and regulations.
• Communicate with management to ensure policy compliance.
