Job summary

Smart Start, Inc. services Virginia with an on-site Service Technician role supporting public safety through alcohol monitoring and vehicle electronics. The position covers both Farmville and South Boston locations and follows a Mon-Fri 8am-5pm schedule.

The role requires hands-on installation, service, diagnostics, and customer training, including log file downloads, calibration updates, and occasional device deprogramming. Strong safety and client-service focus are essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Proficient with 12-volt DC systems (GPS, remote starts, stereo, backup camera).
• Skilled in wiring, connectors, programming electronic devices, diagnostics, multimeter testing, and circuit analysis.

Responsibilities

• Install, service, troubleshoot, and remove alcohol monitoring and vehicle electronic devices.
• Maintain a clean, organized, hazard-free work environment.
• Conduct customer training sessions and provide phone support to ensure satisfaction.
• Make daily or weekly reminder calls to customers with upcoming appointments.
• Perform monthly inventory audits and assist nearby facilities as needed.
• Manage weekly work hours (≤ 40 hours/week) and communicate with management.
• Uphold confidentiality, data security, and regulatory compliance.
• Perform additional duties such as vehicle-to-vehicle transfers.
