Job summary

Stantec is seeking an Automation / Instrumentation & Controls Engineer to join the Energy and Resources consulting team. Lead I&C drawing development, instrumentation specifications, and PLC/DCS/SCADA architectures while coordinating with multidisciplinary teams across North America.

The role offers growth within a world‑class design firm and requires travel to client sites. You will contribute to mining, power, oil & gas, and renewable energy projects, with strong emphasis on design, QA/QC, and

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited university.
• 5–10 years of engineering, design and construction experience in heavy industry, mining, oil & gas, power generation.
• Professional Engineering license or ability to become licensed.
• Willingness to travel to client sites (~10%).

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering support for multidisciplinary projects from proposals through design phases and start-up.
• Lead instrumentation design including I&C drawings, specifications, and datasheets.
• Design PLC/DCS/HMI/SCADA architectures and integrate with vendor equipment.
• Develop networked, mine‑grade control rooms and safety interlocks.
• Coordinate with internal teams and clients; participate in design reviews and value engineering.
