Job summary

CBRE is seeking an Automation Engineer to join its Global Workplace Solutions team in a role focused on controls and maintenance for automated material handling equipment. The engineer will develop, troubleshoot, and optimize PLC/robotics and SCADA-based systems, collaborating with site teams to improve reliability and performance.

Responsibilities include safety compliance, on-site and remote troubleshooting, and guiding contractor work while aligning with client objectives and production

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred; 2–5 years of relevant experience.
• Experience in at least two engineering design cycles including specification, component selection and programming.
• 2+ years of experience with PLC programs.
• 2+ years of experience with robotics system components and controls.
• 2+ years of experience with SCADA systems.

Responsibilities

• Promote a safe working environment and comply with codes and regulations.
• Troubleshoot and modify software for MHE control systems (PLC/PC).
• Provide first-level escalation support on-site and remotely, including after-hours.
• Inspect systems to ensure operation meets design and client requirements.
• Oversee development scope, scheduling, and inspection of contractor work.
• Engineer process solutions and reliability improvements from concept to implementation.
• Monitor industrial networks and motor control systems.
• Communicate with stakeholders on issues, timelines and impacts.
• Perform system analyses to drive improvements and retraining.
