Job summary

CBRE Global Workplace Solutions (GWS) seeks an Automation Engineer to join our controls and maintenance team supporting high‑reliability material handling equipment for a major online retailer. You will help maximize equipment reliability and operational performance of conveyors, sortation systems, scanners, cameras, and SCADA programs.

The role involves troubleshooting PLC/PC controllers (Allen-Bradley), modifying software, coordinating with contractors, and communicating with site leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent experience.
• 2+ years PLC programming experience.
• 2+ years robotics and SCADA experience.
• Willing to work a flexible schedule including weekends/nights/holidays.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and modify software for material handling control systems, including PLC/PC controllers and RSLogix 5000.
• Act as first level escalation in troubleshooting support on-site and remotely for MHE controls software.
• Inspect systems to ensure operation aligns with design capabilities and client specs.
• Oversee development scope, work requests, scheduling, and inspection of contractor work.
• Engineer process solutions and reliability improvements from concept to implementation.
• Monitor industrial networks such as Ethernet, ControlNet, DeviceNet, Profibus, AS-I, and servo drives.
• Communicate with leadership, operations and maintenance teams on timelines and impacts.
• Perform other job-related duties as needed.
