Job summary

CBRE Group, Inc. is seeking an Automation Engineer to join CBRE Global Workplace Solutions.

You will support automated material handling equipment and focus on reliability and preventive maintenance across conveyors, sortation systems, scanners, cameras, and print/apply systems. The role requires PLC programming experience, familiarity with Allen‑Bradley Controllogix/CompactLogix and RSLogix 5000, plus robotics and SCADA knowledge.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred with 2–5 years of relevant experience.
• Experience in at least two engineering design cycles including specification, component selection and programming.
• 2+ years of experience with Programmable Logic Controls (PLC) programs.
• 2+ years of experience with robotics system components and controls.
• 2+ years of experience with SCADA systems.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends, nights, and/or holidays.
• Ability to independently solve problems and carry out general instructions with limited oversight.
• Meet the physical requirements of this role including lifting heavy loads of 50 lbs. or more.
• Ability to communicate clearly with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Promote a safe working environment by complying with codes and regulations.
• Troubleshoot and modify software for material handling control systems (PLC/PC, RSLogix 5000).
• Provide first-level escalation support on-site and remotely, including after-hours.
• Inspect systems to ensure operation meets design specifications.
• Oversee work by outside contractors and manage upgrades and maintenance.
• Engineer process solutions and reliability improvements from concept to implementation.
• Monitor industrial networks and equipment performance.
• Communicate with stakeholders on issues and timelines.
