Job summary

CBRE is seeking an Automation Engineer to support global warehouse operations, focusing on automated material handling equipment. You will troubleshoot PLC/Robot controls, monitor SCADA, and coordinate with maintenance and client teams to maximize reliability and uptime.

The role requires flexibility for shifts, hands-on problem solving, and collaborative work with a diverse team in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree preferred with 2-5 years of relevant experience.
Experience in at least two engineering design cycles including specification, component selection and programming.
2+ years of experience with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) programs.
2+ years of experience with robotics system components and controls.
2+ years of experience with SCADA systems.
Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends, nights, and/or holidays.
Ability to independently solve problems with limited oversight.
Must meet physical requirements (stooping, standing, walking, lifting 50 lbs).
Ability to communicate technical issues and timelines effectively.

Responsibilities

Promote a safe working environment and comply with codes and regulations.
Troubleshoot and modify software programs for material handling control systems.
Act as first level escalation in troubleshooting on-site and remotely.
Inspect systems to ensure operation within design capabilities.
Oversee development and inspection of work by outside contractors.
Engineer process solutions and reliability improvements from concept to implementation.
Monitor industrial networks (Ethernet, ControlNet, DeviceNet, Profibus, AS-I).
Monitor material handling equipment metrics and coordinate with site team.
Communicate with stakeholders on issues, timelines, and impacts.
Analyze failures and recommend improvements or retraining.
Perform controls assessments to maintain equipment reliability.
Communicate timelines and impacts with site leadership and teams.
Cultivate relationships with client and operations teams.
