Job summary

C&W Services is seeking an Automation Engineer in Downers Grove, IL to support the site maintenance team and ensure optimal performance of material handling equipment control systems.

You will troubleshoot PLC/PC controllers, Allen-Bradley platforms, and Rockwell software, lead technicians, and drive improvements in safety and reliability. This role offers a climate-controlled facility, a safety-first culture, and opportunities for training and advancement.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of cumulative work experience in programmable logic controllers (PLCs), HMIs, and VFDs
• SCADA systems and KPIs experience
• Ability to read and interpret electrical/mechanical drawings
• Experience supporting conveyors and sortation systems
• Experience with electrical distribution systems and motor control components

Responsibilities

• Promote a safe working environment by following procedures
• Guide maintenance on material handling control systems and electrical infrastructure
• Troubleshoot and modify software for PLC/PC controllers (Rockwell) and related networks
• Serve as first Level escalation for automation issues and escalate as needed
• Collaborate with operations leadership to plan new technology installations
• Communicate timelines and production impacts to leadership and maintenance teams
