Job summary

Cushman & Wakefield in Palmdale, CA is seeking an Automation Engineer to support the site maintenance team, ensuring performance and efficiency of material handling equipment control systems.

You will troubleshoot and modify software for PLC/PC controllers, Allen-Bradley Rockwell, and networking, lead or assist technicians, and contribute to capital projects while maintaining a safe, climate-controlled facility.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience programming/commissioning HMIs, PLCs, and VFDs.
• Experience with SCADA systems and KPIs.
• Ability to read and modify electrical drawings.
• Experience with conveyors and sortation systems.
• Experience with equipment control components such as relays, motor starters, VFDs, HMIs.
• High school diploma or equivalent, with a positive problem-solving mindset.

Responsibilities

• Promote a safe working environment by following all safety procedures.
• Provide guidance on maintaining material handling control systems and electrical distribution.
• Troubleshoot and modify software for material handling control systems (PLC/PC controllers, Rockwell Rockwell’s software).
• Serve as first escalation point for automation issues and escalate to vendors when needed.
• Apply expertise in material handling to maximize building utilization of systems.
• Monitor MHE metrics and coordinate with mechatronics technicians to resolve electrical problems.
• Collaborate with operations leadership, vendors, and parts suppliers on new technology installations.
• Communicate timelines and production impacts to leadership and maintenance teams.
