Job summary

CBRE Group, Inc. is seeking an Automation Engineer to support advanced automation systems for mission‑critical facilities. You will work on conveyors, sortation systems, PLCs, scanners, vision systems, and SCADA platforms to improve uptime, safety, and operational excellence.

You will troubleshoot hardware and software, install improvements, and coordinate with maintenance teams and outside contractors. The role requires hands-on problem solving and a commitment to safety.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree preferred with 2-5 years of relevant experience.
• Experience in at least two engineering design cycles including specification, component selection and programming.
• 2+ years of experience working with PLC programming, robotics system components and controls, and SCADA-based monitoring and control systems.
• Ability to be available and work in a flexible schedule/shift/work area, including weekends, nights, and/or holidays.

Responsibilities

• Promote safe working environment and comply with codes, regulations, and directives.
• Troubleshoot and modify software for material handling control systems (PLC/PC controllers, RSLogix 5000).
• Provide first level escalation in troubleshooting on-site and remotely; respond to emergencies as needed.
• Inspect systems to ensure operation within design capabilities and client specs.
• Oversee development scope, work requests, scheduling, and inspection with outside contractors.
• Engineer process solutions and reliability improvements from concept to implementation.
• Monitor industrial networks and equipment metrics; partner with site team to resolve issues.
