Job summary

Gerber Collision & Glass in Fridley, MN is seeking an Auto Body Technician to assess and repair vehicles to pre-accident condition. You will disassemble, repair, reassemble, replace damaged sections, weld, and repaint, while ensuring quality and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities include planning repairs, estimating costs, and completing work orders within labor time guidelines, with attention to safety and teamwork in a fast-paced shop.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Technical school program or 3-year apprenticeship required.
• Ability to read job orders and work with very little supervision.
• Ability to work with other repairers within an auto body shop.
• Thorough understanding of methods and procedures to repair vehicle bodies.
• Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Plan the repair work and prepare cost estimates for customers.
• Use tools such as cutting guns, plasma cutters, hydraulic jacks, hammers, and pliers to repair sections of a vehicle.
• Hammer out dents, dimples, and other minor body damage and apply filler resins as needed.
• Realign car chassis and frames to repair structural damage.
• Replace damaged sections and windshields; replace or repair interior parts.
• Weld and fit parts, repaint vehicles as required, and complete work orders on time.
• Inspect vehicles after repair to ensure quality and compliance.
