Job summary

Gersh Autism Academy in Huntington, NY seeks a dedicated Teacher Assistant to support teachers in delivering effective education for students with autism. You will help implement IEPs and BIPs, track progress, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to support each child’s growth.

Responsibilities include maintaining records, assisting with lessons, and ensuring a safe, clean classroom environment while participating in required trainings and meetings.

Qualifications

• Prior TA experience is required.
• ATAS or TA exam ability.
• Experience with autism spectrum preferred.
• EPI pen or seizure meds experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Support teacher with ABA, CPS, or alternative strategies prioritizing student needs.
• Create a positive learning environment by displaying student work and projects.
• Maintain a safe classroom environment for students.
• Assist in planning and delivering lessons tailored to individual needs.
• Modify materials to suit learning progress.
• Keep accurate student records and write annual progress reports.
