Job summary

Gersh Autism in Hempstead, NY seeks a Teaching Assistant to support teachers in delivering lessons across subjects and life skills for students aged 5-21. You will help tailor instruction to individual needs, assist with IEP/BIP implementation, and maintain accurate records in a team-based setting.

The role requires prior TA experience, familiarity with autism, and the TA Skills Test (ATAS) or ability to take it. Associates degree preferred. Full-time, on-site position with school hours.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting teachers in K-12 settings.
• Familiarity with ABA, Collaborative Problem Solving, or similar approaches.

Responsibilities

• Assist the teacher in delivering lessons and adapting materials.
• Maintain a safe, respectful classroom and monitor student progress.
• Record attendance and help with data collection and reports.
• Collaborate with therapists and staff to implement IEPs and BIPs.
