Job summary

Gersh Autism seeks a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support teachers in classrooms serving students on the autism spectrum. You will help deliver academic and life-skill lessons, adapt materials, and monitor student progress in a team-based environment.

Responsibilities include recording data, supporting IEPs and BIPs, and collaborating with speech and occupational therapists to promote student growth and safety in a year-round program at Huntington, NY.

Qualifications

• Prior experience as a Teaching Assistant is required.
• Experience working with children on the Autism Spectrum preferred.
• Experience administering an EPI pen or seizure meds a plus!

Responsibilities

• Support the teacher in utilizing methodologies such as Applied Behavior Analysis or Collaborative Problem Solving.
• Create a positive learning environment by displaying student work and projects.
• Maintain a safe classroom environment for students.
• Assist in planning and executing lessons tailored to individual student needs.
