Job summary

Goodwin seeks an Attorney Development Manager in New York to drive development and engagement for associates within the Global Operations Team. You will partner with partners, practice management, and advisors to align progress with the firm’s elite performance culture.

The role includes onboarding, staffing decisions, performance management, and data-informed talent strategies to support hiring, retention, and development across practice groups.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree strongly preferred.
• A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience at a large law firm.
• Experience in legal staffing, workforce planning, or attorney development is highly preferred.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication acumen.
• Ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and manage multiple high-priority projects.

Responsibilities

• Attorney cohort management: manage day-to-day development, performance, and engagement.
• Onboarding & integration: lead onboarding to ensure seamless integration into the firm’s culture and workflows.
• Resource allocation: align attorney skills with client work and firm priorities to optimize assignments.
• Development and performance management: gather feedback, inform development plans, and support evaluations.
• Strategic and advisory support: identify trends, guide hiring and retention strategies, and advise leadership.
