Job summary

Goodwin seeks an Attorney Development Manager to drive development and engagement for associates, aligning progress with firm goals. You’ll partner with partners, Practice Management, and other teams to shape hiring, onboarding, and advancement strategies while managing day-to-day attorney growth.

The role requires a JD and 5+ years in a large law firm or professional services, with strong communication, stakeholder management, and a data-driven mindset.

Qualifications

• J.D. degree strongly preferred, with a solid foundation in legal principles.
• At least 5 years of relevant experience, ideally in a large law firm.
• Experience in legal staffing, workforce planning, or attorney development.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication acumen with stakeholder influence.
• Ability to leverage data, technology platforms, and AI tools to inform decisions.

Responsibilities

• Attorney Cohort Management: for assigned Attorneys, manage development, performance, and engagement.
• Onboarding & Onboarding Integration: lead the onboarding experience to ensure seamless integration into the firm’s culture and workflows.
• Resource Allocation: align Attorney skills with client work and firm priorities for meaningful growth.
• Development and Performance Management: gather feedback and guide career progression and reviews.
• Strategic and Advisory Support: identify trends and advise on hiring, onboarding, retention, and development.
• Training: deliver targeted programming and individualized learning plans.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration, Innovation, & Engagement: improve talent programs and foster inclusion.
• Policy Awareness and Compliance: ensure understanding of firm policies and compliance.
