Job summary

Altstadt Brewery in Fredericksburg, TX seeks an Assistant General Manager to lead a high-volume hospitality operation and drive guest experience across restaurant, taproom, and events. You will coach, develop, and align front- and back-of-house teams, oversee scheduling, forecasting, and labor, and partner with the General Manager to guide growth, profitability, and operating excellence.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in an Assistant General Manager or equivalent senior hospitality leadership role.
• Experience leading a high-volume or highly seasonal operation.
• Restaurant leadership experience or meaningful event, banquet, hotel, or venue operations experience.
• Strong understanding of labor management, scheduling, forecasting, financial performance, and inventory controls.
• Proven ability to coach, train, develop, and retain team members and emerging leaders.
• Ability to evaluate talent and contribute to hiring and onboarding processes.
• Experience with weddings, private events, corporate events, banquets, large groups, or live entertainment is strongly valued.
• Excellent communication, organization, judgment, and follow-through.

Responsibilities

• Partner closely with the General Manager to support day-to-day operations and lead when the GM is off-site.
• Lead front-of-house operations and partner with kitchen leadership and other managers.
• Coach and develop team members with clear expectations and accountability.
• Prepare the operation for seasonal, weekend, holiday, live-music, and event-driven volume.
• Oversee forecasting, scheduling, staffing, and labor planning based on events and volume.
• Oversee operations across restaurant, taproom, grand hall, beer garden, ceremony garden, and event spaces.
• Support weddings, corporate events, private events, buyouts, large groups, and other events.
• Manage wine and beverage ordering and monthly beverage inventory; drive profitability and cost control.
