Job summary

Trustbridge Hospice, a member of Empath Health, seeks an Associate Medical Director to provide medical oversight for hospice patients across Palm Beach County. The role blends clinical care with leadership, working with care teams to deliver compassionate, high-quality end-of-life care.

The position requires an MD/DO, Florida license, and board certification. Palliative Medicine certification is preferred; DEA registration is required and CPR is essential for patient-facing work.

Qualifications

• MD or DO from an accredited medical school.
• Board Certified in a related specialty.
• Current Florida medical license.
• Minimum of two years’ active clinical practice.
• Palliative Medicine certification preferred.
• Hospital staff privileges preferred.
• Current Federal DEA registration.
• CPR certification required if patient facing.

Responsibilities

• Provide symptom control expertise and coordinate with APRN/RN for pain management.
• Collaborate with attending physicians to develop and update care plans.
• Serve as medical resource and educator for staff, patients, families, and physicians.
• Adhere to Florida DOH requirements and regulatory standards.
• Participate in IDG meetings with a team-based approach.
• Complete ongoing patient assessments and evaluate recertification eligibility.

Job description

Trustbridge Hospice, a member of Empath Health, is seeking a full-time Associate Medical Director to provide medical oversight and leadership for hospice patients and their families across Palm Beach County. The Associate Medical Director will provide medical direction of the care and treatment of patients within an Empath Health Palliative Care program. This role blends clinical care and leadership responsibilities, working closely with care teams to deliver high-quality, compassionate care.

Formed from the legacy of Hospice by the Sea and Hospice of Palm Beach County, we continue to provide comfort, dignity, and peace to those facing advanced illness.

What You'll Do

• Provides symptom control expertise and communicates with the APRN and/or RN to evaluate and initiate treatments for pain/symptom management. This is primarily completed through in person visits.
• Collaborates with the patient’s attending physician as needed to develop and update the patient’s plan of care, ensure the provision of direct medical services to ensure pain and symptom management.
• Serves as a medical resource and educator to staff, patients, families and attending physicians regarding admission criteria, pain and symptom control management, and end of life care.
• Adheres to the Florida Department of Health requirements, as well as legal, regulatory and accreditation requirements. meetings as assigned, collaborating closely with the Clinical Director and other disciplines with a team approach to ensure that the medical needs of the patient are met.

What You'll Need

• M.D. or D.O. degree from an accredited medical school and Board Certified in a related specialty.
• Current Florida license to practice medicine issued pursuant to Florida Statute 458 or 459.
• Minimum of two (2) years’ recent active practice with direct clinical medical care experience.
• Certification in Palliative Medicine strongly preferred.
• Hospital staff privileges at one or more hospitals commonly serving patients in the service area strongly preferred.
• Current Federal DEA registration.
• Valid CPR Certification required if patient facing.
