Job summary

Hospice of Marion County, a part of Empath Health, seeks an Associate Medical Director to lead and support end-of-life care across Ocala and Marion County. The role emphasizes symptom management, collaboration with clinicians, and education for staff, patients, and families.

The position requires an MD or DO, Florida medical license, and Board Certification in a related specialty, with strong preference for Palliative Medicine certification.

Qualifications

• MD/DO degree from an accredited medical school.
• Board Certification in a related specialty.
• Current Florida license to practice medicine under Fla. Stat. 458 or 459.
• Minimum two years’ direct clinical medical care experience.
• Palliative Medicine certification strongly preferred.
• Hospital staff privileges at one or more local hospitals preferred.
• Current Federal DEA registration.
• CPR certification required if patient facing.

Responsibilities

• Provide pain and symptom management during in-person visits.
• Collaborate with APRN/RN and attending physician to evaluate and initiate treatments.
• Serve as a medical resource and educator to staff, patients, families and attending physicians.
• Participate in IDG meetings and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
• Ensure compliance with Florida Department of Health requirements and regulatory standards.

As part of Empath Health, we help neighbors with advanced illness live as comfortably and meaningfully as possible, while supporting their families and caregivers with respect, guidance, and dignity.What you'll Do:Promotes and practices the Empath Health mission, vision and values and follows all policies and procedures.Provides symptom control expertise and communicates with the APRN and/or RN to evaluate and initiate treatments for pain/symptom management. This is primarily completed through in person visits.
