Job summary

YMCA New Britain is seeking a dedicated Assistant Teacher to support early childhood programs. This part-time, hourly role focuses on creating engaging, age-appropriate activities and helping foster a safe, nurturing classroom that supports growth and curiosity.

You will partner with families and the YMCA team to deliver lessons, adapt curriculum as needed, and ensure inclusive, fun experiences. The position offers community impact, a non-profit environment, and rewards including YMCA membership

Qualifications

• High School diploma required.
• Bachelor's Degree or credits in Early Childhood Education preferred.
• 2+ years of experience working with children (professional, volunteer, or familial).
• Passionate about working with children in a fun, diverse environment.
• 21+ years of age.

Responsibilities

• Designing age appropriate lesson plans and activities
• Cultivating and fostering a safe and nurturing environment that will encourage physical, emotional, and intellectual growth of children in the program
• Adjusting curriculum to ensure that all children meet the learning objectives
• Utilizing state and YMCA guidelines to ensure the safety and well being of the children
• Building strong relationships with the parents
