Job summary

YMCA in Annandale, NJ is seeking an Assistant Teacher to support early childhood learning and create a fun, safe environment for children.

This full-time, hourly position offers a Monday–Friday schedule from 9:00am to 6:00pm, with competitive pay of $17 to $19 per hour and benefits through the YMCA.

Qualifications

• Are 21+ and have 2+ years of experience working with children in a professional, volunteer, or familial capacity
• High school diploma
• Associate/Bachelor degree or college credits from an accredited college or university in childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education, or the human services field preferred
• Passionate about working with children in a fun, diverse environment
• Ability to pass all relevant clearances

Responsibilities

• Finding new and engaging ways to help kids learn
• Being patient and kind with our parents
• Cultivating and fostering a safe and nurturing environment that will encourage physical, emotional, and intellectual growth of children in the program
• Adjusting curriculum to ensure that all children meet the learning objectives
• Utilizing state and YMCA guidelines to ensure the safety and well being of the children
