Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking an Assistant Structural Engineer to support project teams across power, process, industrial, healthcare, and government facilities. You will assist in concept-to-design work, review drawings, and help with field measurements and calculations under supervision of a licensed engineer.

Ideal candidates demonstrate strong communication, analytical thinking, and collaboration skills, with proficiency in CAD tools such as AutoCAD and BIM software like Revit or Tekla.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• Internship or related consulting experience preferred.
• Basic knowledge of structural engineering techniques and procedures.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work analytically in a problem-solving environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the structural design of projects from concept through design completion.
• Modify and review production drawings for a variety of facilities (power, healthcare, education, government).
• Design structural components as directed by project managers.
• Apply knowledge of standard structural engineering concepts and codes.
• Assist with data collection, drawings corrections, and CAD-related tasks.
• Support client presentations, shop drawing review, and contract administration.
• Perform field inspections, measurements or calculations as needed.
• Contribute to project team and comply with policies and standards.
