Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking an Assistant Structural Engineer to assist licensed professionals on a range of facilities projects, including power, healthcare, and government sectors. You will help during design and construction, adapt plans to budget and client needs, and support the production drawing process.

Ideal candidates have a structural engineering degree, strong communication and analytical skills, and familiarity with AutoCAD and BIM tools. ABET accreditation is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• Master’s degree in Structural Engineering or related field preferred.
• Prior internship or related consulting experience preferred.
• Proficient with AutoCAD, BIM (Revit/Tekla) and structural analysis tools (RISA).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to think analytically.

Responsibilities

• Assist structural design from conceptual phase through design completion.
• Modify and review production drawings for diverse projects (power, process, industrial, healthcare, etc).
• Design structural components as directed by project managers.
• Support field inspections, measurements, and calculations for clients.
• Prepare client presentations, shop drawings reviews, and contract administration tasks.
