Job summary

Goodwill Industries of the Southern Piedmont in Charlotte, NC is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to help lead the daily operations of a Goodwill retail store and donation center. You’ll support the Store Manager in creating a positive, productive environment for customers and staff.

Your responsibilities include driving sales and production, recruiting and onboarding, training, reviewing deposits and reports, coordinating inventory, and ensuring security.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least 2 years of retail management experience.
• Regular physical activity and ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.

Responsibilities

• Lead store activities to ensure strong sales and production performance.
• Recruit, interview, hire, and onboard new team members.
• Train and develop staff in alignment with company standards.
• Review daily sales reports, deposits, and financial procedures.
• Coordinate product flow and shipments to meet inventory goals.
• Open/close the store, manage deposits, and secure the building.
• Provide excellent customer and donor service, resolving complaints.
• Supervise processing of donated goods for quality and sales readiness.
• Organize merchandise by category and color; motivate team with feedback.
• Report maintenance needs and safety concerns to leadership.
