Job summary

Goodwill in Cornelius, NC is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to help lead daily store operations and the donor center. You will support the Store Manager with recruiting, onboarding, training, cash handling, inventory, and customer service to create a welcoming, productive environment.

In this role, you’ll supervise sales, donations processing, merchandising, and safety compliance while stepping in as acting Store Manager when needed. This position offers full-time hours and benefits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• At least 2 years of retail management experience.
• Physical requirements: frequent standing, walking, and lifting up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Lead store activities to ensure strong sales and production performance.
• Support recruitment, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding of new team members.
• Train and develop staff in alignment with company standards.
• Review and verify daily sales reports, deposits, and financial procedures.
• Coordinate product flow and shipments to meet sales goals.
• Open and close the store, manage deposits, and secure the building.
• Provide excellent customer and donor service, resolving complaints.
• Supervise the processing of donated goods to ensure quality and sales readiness.
• Organize and rotate merchandise by category and color.
• Encourage team motivation through communication and performance feedback.
• Report maintenance needs and safety concerns to store leadership.
• Act as Store Manager in their absence.
