Job summary

Goodwill Industries of the Southern Piedmont is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to oversee daily operations of a Goodwill retail store and donation center, supporting the Store Manager to foster a positive, productive environment for customers and staff.

You will lead sales and production efforts, recruit and onboard new teammates, train staff, and ensure accurate deposits and financial procedures while coordinating inventory flow and donation processing.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least 2 years of retail management experience (or equivalent).
• Physical requirements: standing, walking, lifting up to 50 pounds, local travel.

Responsibilities

• Lead store activities to ensure strong sales and production.
• Recruit, interview, hire, and onboard new team members.
• Train and develop staff to company standards.
• Review daily sales reports, deposits, and financial procedures.
• Coordinate product flow and shipments to meet sales goals.
• Open/close store, manage deposits, secure building.
• Provide excellent customer and donor service, including resolving complaints.
• Supervise processing of donated goods for quality and sales readiness.
• Organize merchandise by category and color.
• Encourage team motivation through feedback.
• Report maintenance and safety concerns to store leadership.
• Act as Store Manager in their absence.
