Job summary

Family Dollar is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to support store operations, customer service, and team development at our Oxon Hill, MD location. You will assist with daily store activities, help customers, organize merchandise, and support open/close procedures while maintaining a safe, friendly environment.

You will supervise and train Store Associates, ensure accurate payroll and scheduling, and uphold policy compliance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; ability to read, interpret, and explain operational directives (e.g., merchandise schematics) is required
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment is preferred
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs. and handle frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills are required

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns
• Organize and transfer merchandise from delivery truck to stockroom to sales floor and maintain seasonal areas
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed
• Process corporate directives and store communications
• Maintain promotional effectiveness of fixtures and displays
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, payroll/scheduling, and cash deposits
• Maintain a clean, well-stocked sales floor and organized stockroom
• Protect and secure store assets, including cash
• Ensure safety and policy adherence; supervise and develop Store Associates
• Create a positive, safe, and respectful environment for customers and staff
• Maintain store cleanliness across all areas, including bathrooms and floors
• Other duties as assigned
