Job summary

Family Dollar seeks an Assistant Store Manager to support daily store operations, customer service, and team development in Washington, DC. You will assist in organizing merchandise, performing opening/closing tasks, and ensuring adherence to corporate directives and safety policies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required or preferred.
• Retail store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store is preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 55 lbs and handle frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills are required.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment.
• Exceptional customer service, organizational, and communication skills are required.
• Strong problem solving and decision-making skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily store operations and activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns.
• Organize and transfer merchandise from delivery to stockroom to floor; maintain seasonal areas.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Process corporate directives and communications related to store activities.
• Maintain attractive storefront fixtures and displays.
• Assist in ordering merchandise, handling damaged goods, payroll, scheduling, and cash handling; assist loss prevention.
• Keep store areas well-stocked and organized; protect assets including cash.
• Adhere to safety guidelines and company policies; train and develop store associates.
• Promote a positive, safe, respectful environment with customers and staff.
• Maintain cleanliness of the entire store, bathrooms, floors, and refuse areas.
• Other duties as assigned.
