Job summary

Family Dollar in Temple Hills, MD is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to help run daily store operations, support customer service, and develop the team. You will assist with merchandising, opening/closing, payroll and scheduling, and loss prevention while keeping the store clean and stocked.

The role requires strong communication skills, the ability to lift up to 55 lbs, and a proven ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment preferred.
• Able to lift up to 55 lbs and perform physical store duties.
• Strong communication, interpersonal and written skills required.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment.
• Exceptional customer service, organizational and communication abilities.
• Strong problem solving and decision-making skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns.
• Organize and transfer merchandise from delivery to stockroom and sales floor.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Process corporate directives and store communications.
• Maintain promotional effects of fixtures and displays.
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, and record keeping including payroll and scheduling.
• Maintain a well-stocked sales floor and organized stockroom.
• Protect and secure all company assets including store cash.
• Adhere to policies and safety guidelines and supervise associates as needed.
• Help Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
• Maintain a positive, safe, and respectful environment with customers and staff.
• Keep store clean, restocked, and presentable; manage bathrooms and floors.
• Other duties as assigned.
