Job summary

Family Dollar in Maryland seeks an Assistant Store Manager to support store operations, customer service, and team development. You will assist with daily store activities, help customers, and ensure promotional displays are effective.

The role requires strong communication, organizational skills, and the ability to lead a team in a fast-paced retail environment. Full-time position with responsibilities across opening/closing, inventory, and loss prevention.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment is preferred.
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs. and perform physical tasks (standing, walking, bending, etc.).
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills are required.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment is required.
• Exceptional customer service, organizational, and problem-solving skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns they may have.
• Assist in organizing, and transferring merchandise from delivery truck to stockroom to sales floor as needed.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Process corporate directives and communications related to store activities.
• Maintain promotional effectiveness of store-front fixtures and displays.
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, payroll, scheduling, and cash handling; contribute to loss prevention.
• Maintain well-stocked sales floor and organized stockroom to company standards.
• Protect and secure all company assets, including store cash.
• Adhere to policies and safety guidelines; ensure staff follow procedures.
• Help Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
• Maintain a positive, safe, and respectful environment with customers, associates, and leaders.
• Keep store clean; restock bathrooms, sweep/mop floors, take out trash, and keep areas neat and presentable.
