Job summary

Barnes & Noble College seeks an Assistant Store Manager to lead daily operations of the campus store alongside the Store Manager. You will develop the team, ensure exceptional customer service, and drive sales and inventory control across departments.

You'll recruit and train staff, manage schedules, and partner with campus relations to strengthen community ties while maintaining store presentation and operational standards. Evening and weekend availability required.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years of retail experience with at least 1 year in leadership or supervisory roles.
• Experience with merchandising, inventory management, and customer service.
• Strong leadership, coaching, and team development skills.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
• Proficiency with POS systems and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily sales floor operations and coach team members.
• Partner with Store Manager to oversee daily store operations and store presentation.
• Recruit, hire, train, schedule, and develop store team members.
• Drive sales by analyzing trends and managing controllable expenses.
• Develop relationships with customers and campus partners; resolve concerns.
