Job summary

Barnes & Noble College is seeking a resourceful Assistant Store Manager to support the Store or General Manager in daily operations of our bookstore. You will supervise employees, work directly with customers, and help drive sales and programs to meet store goals.

Responsibilities include directing activities across departments, training new staff, maintaining an appealing sales floor, handling cash and transactions, and delivering outstanding customer experiences in an academic community.

Qualifications

• 3+ years’ experience in a retail setting.
• 1+ year supervisory experience preferred.
• High school diploma/GED preferred.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Familiarity with financial and customer service principles.

Responsibilities

• Support Store Manager in daily operations and departments.
• Supervise employees and tasks, direct scheduling and team development.
• Deliver outstanding customer service to students, faculty, and the campus community.
• Help the store meet or exceed sales goals, identify business opportunities, and motivate the team.
• Maintain an appealing sales floor and assist with processing sales transactions.
