Job summary

Cecil College in North East, Maryland, is seeking an experienced individual for a part-time collegiate athletic role. You will be responsible for managing a comprehensive athletic program, recruiting student athletes, and ensuring academic progress.

The ideal candidate will hold an Associate’s Degree and have significant coaching experience. The position offers a stipend of $3,000 for approximately 25 hours of work per week.

Job Summary

Responsible for conducting a comprehensive, high quality collegiate athletic program within the guidelines of all rules and policies established by Cecil College, its athletic department, the Maryland Junior College Athletic Conference, Region XX of the National Junior College Athletic Association, and the National Junior College Athletic Association itself. In accordance with the academic standards, stated mission and goals of Cecil College and the Department of Athletics.

Essential Job Functions

• Recruit student athletes
• Help coordinate daily practices
• Attend all home and away games
• Communicate with Athletic Department to help monitor student athlete academic progress
• Help with fundraising, including creating and implementing approved activities

Other Related Duties

• Handles other related duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements to Perform Work

• Associate’s Degree required
• 3 years coaching experience at the collegiate level preferred, minimum head coach at the high school varsity level
• Evidence of a commitment to academic and athletic excellence, cultural diversity and equity in sports
• Good communication and verbal skills
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
• Knowledge of NJCAA rules
• Computer skills

Scheduling Requirements

Schedule varies, approx. 25 hours a week.

Physical Demands

Must be able to lift and move up to a maximum of 50 lbs. The physical activity of this position includes, but is not limited to: climbing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, pulling, lifting, grasping, twisting and sitting.

Work Environment

The worker will be exposed to inside and outside environmental conditions. Safety equipment will be provided where needed and required to be worn or used.
