Job description

Job Summary

This position is responsible for assisting the head coach in creating and maintaining a successful program for the institution on the field, in the classroom, and in the community.

Responsibilities
  • Understand, support, and carry out the college's mission, vision, and values and comply with mandates and regulations of government and accrediting bodies.
  • Assist the department with advisement and academic support responsibilities for all student‑athletes.
  • Identify and recruit potential student athletes.
  • Assist the head coach with practice plans and game strategies for upcoming opponents.
  • Perform on‑field instruction and player development.
  • Conduct and supervise individual trainings for student athletes and off‑season conditioning.
  • Monitor progress of student athletes and implement strategies to ensure academic and athletic success with an emphasis on sportsmanship, integrity, a competitive spirit, and academic success.
  • Recruit student athletes for the baseball team.
  • Perform administrative duties, including camp coordination, traveling, and executing tasks for community service or campus events.
  • Perform assigned duties in a manner consistent with the mission, goals, and core values of the college.
  • Maintain sensitivity, understanding, and respect for an academic environment including students, faculty, and staff.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a course of study related to the occupational field.
  • Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one (1) to two (2) years.
  • Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
Proposed Salary

$40,000 annually

  • Knowledge of National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) and the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association (GCAA).
  • Knowledge of computers and job‑related software programs.
  • Skill in the coaching and training of student athletes.
  • Skill in the analysis of problems and the development and implementation of solutions.
  • Skill in oral and written communication.
