Job summary

The Osthoff Resort, an award-winning AAA Four Diamond property on Elkhart Lake, seeks an Assistant Restaurant Manager to lead front and back-of-house operations in our home restaurant and support other outlets. You will supervise a diverse team, deliver high service standards, and drive guest experiences that reflect our Midwest hospitality.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• 3+ years of restaurant experience with proven leadership.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Passion for hospitality and guest satisfaction.
• Excellent interpersonal skills for handling team members and guests.
• Ability to work under pressure and make decisions confidently.
• Skilled trainer of service technique and customer satisfaction.
• Knowledge of cuisine, wine, beer, and liquor.
• Must have or be willing to obtain a food safety certification and bartending license.
• Maintain a positive can-do attitude and inspire others.
• Great time management and ability to think on the spot.
• Flexibility to meet business needs.

Responsibilities

• Provide strong leadership to create a positive work environment.
• Create schedules and manage payroll for the home restaurant.
• Train new team members on service standards.
• Continuously train staff to improve knowledge and skills.
• Provide coaching to employees as needed.
• Ensure smooth operations by hosting, bussing, bartending, expediting, and serving.
• Stay aligned with procedures and menus across restaurants.
• Motivate the team and maintain energy.
• Assist Restaurant Manager in refining systems for guest satisfaction.
• Update POS system as needed.
• Handle daily reports, deposits, and cash drawers.
• Assist with monthly inventories and weekly ordering.
• Review daily checklists and maintenance schedules.
• Report equipment needs and maintenance.
• Follow all food safety protocols.
• Attend meetings and perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

The Osthoff Resort is an award-winning AAA Four Diamond property located on the beautiful shores of Elkhart Lake. Renowned for our warm Midwest hospitality, we offer a variety of culinary experiences, including casual beach-side fare to elevated dining. We are seeking a talented Assistant Restaurant Manager to help with restaurant operations and deliver memorable dining experiences that match the beauty and prestige of our resort.

In this hands-on position, you will oversee front and back-of-house operations of your ‘home’ restaurant, while also understanding operations for the other restaurant. You will lead a team with a variety of experience levels and work on continuously improving their skills. You will ensure the highest standards of quality, consistency, and service, playing a key role in the guest experience.

**The Assistant Restaurant Manager position is a full-time position, which includes eligibility for our complete benefit package, including paid vacation time, health insurance, 401K plus company match, resort-wide discounts, and more!

**This is an hourly position ranging from $20-$24 an hour, plus the opportunity to make tips and gratuities.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Display exceptional leadership by providing a positive work environment and demonstrating a dedicated and professional approach to management
• Create schedules and manage payroll for home restaurant
• Provide on-the-job training for new team members
• Increase overall knowledge and expertise for all team members by continual and consistent training
• Provide coaching to employees as appropriate
• Ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the restaurant by hosting, bussing, bartending, expediting, and serving as needed
• Stay up to date with the procedures/menus/etc. in other restaurant in order to fill in there as needed
• Motivate and inspire team members by creating value and contagious energy
• Assist Restaurant Manager with fine-tuning systems to enhance guests’ experience and create consistency
• Update POS system when needed
• Fill out daily reports/bank deposit/cash drawer
• Assist with monthly inventory and weekly ordering as needed
• Review daily checklists and maintenance schedules
• Report any equipment maintenance or replacement needs
• Ensure all food safety and sanitation protocols are strictly followed
• Attend meetings as needed
• All other duties as assigned

Skills/Requirements:

• Education: High School Diploma
• 3+ years of experience in a restaurant setting with proven leadership experience
• Strong leadership and communication skills
• Passion for hospitality and a commitment to creating guests for life
• Excellent interpersonal skills for diplomatically handling team members and guests
• Ability to work under pressure and make decisions confidently
• Skilled trainer of service technique and customer satisfaction skills
• Knowledge of cuisine, wine, beer, and liquor
• Must have or be willing to obtain a food safety certification and bartending license
• Maintain positive can-do attitude, and inspire that trait in others
• Possess great time management skills, with the ability to think on the spot
• Must have flexibility in time to meet the business needs of the department and resort
