Job summary

M. J. Electric, LLC is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to support the Project Manager in safety, planning, scheduling, cost monitoring, reporting, budgeting, estimating, change orders, and billing on electrical utility construction projects.

The role involves developing project structures, coordinating with purchasing, traveling to sites, and delivering regular progress updates to ensure schedules, budgets and safety targets are met while maintaining strong client relationships.

Qualifications

• 1-4 years of Project Management, Engineering, Construction Management or related experience in a utility construction environment
• BS/BA in Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration or related field preferred

Responsibilities

• Assist with development of systems for accounting, reporting of project costs and scheduling
• Assist in tracking KPI and financial metrics to optimize performance and reduce costs
• Assist in preparing proposals and estimates, including drawings take-offs
• Set up project structure and cost codes with Project Manager
• Assist hand-off from estimating to field supervision
• Coordinate material orders and submittals with purchasing
• Travel to project sites regularly
• Provide weekly progress updates to Project Manager
• Assist with change orders and monthly financials
• Support schedule development and resource planning
• Ensure adequate resources to meet schedule, budget and safety goals
• Interact with customer to foster long-term relationships
• Ensure timely billing and payment follow-up
