Job summary

Independence Excavating, Inc. is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to support the Project Manager and Superintendent with day-to-day administrative and management tasks on heavy civil construction projects. You will assist with purchase orders, subcontracts, RFIs, submittals, job costs and projections.

The role is a stepping stone to a Project Management position. The ideal candidate has a civil engineering or construction mgmt background, 2+ years in an Assistant PM/Project Engineer role,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or construction management (or equivalent).
• 3+ years’ experience in heavy highway construction preferred.
• 2+ years’ in an Assistant Project Manager role and/or Project Engineer role.
• Experience with construction mgmt software; HCSS, Primavera, P6 scheduling a plus.
• Willing to travel up to 30%.

Responsibilities

• Reading, understanding and interpreting drawings and specifications.
• Preparing and analyzing project schedules.
• Review site safety, security, and maintenance of traffic and storm water plans.
• Managing and coordinating subcontracts and purchase orders.
• Assembling job cost codes and preparing monthly payment requisitions.
• Coordinating subcontractors and material deliveries on major items.
• Holding progress meetings with the Owner and Subcontractors.
