Job summary

Independence Excavating, Inc. is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to support daily project administration and management. You will assist the Project Manager and Superintendent with purchase orders, subcontracts, RFIs, submittals, and job cost projections.

This role offers a clear path to a full Project Manager position. Based in Columbus, OH, you will grow with the team, coordinating activities with officials and subcontractors while maintaining profit margins and ensuring safety and

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or construction management or equivalent.
3+ years’ experience in heavy highway construction.
2+ years in an Assistant Project Manager or Project Engineer role.
Travel up to 30% as required.
Experience with construction management software (HCSS, Primavera, P6) is a plus.

Responsibilities

Assist Project Manager and Superintendent with purchase orders, subcontracts, RFIs, submittals.
Prepare and analyze project schedules and job costs.
Coordinate with local officials and vendors; ensure safety and permits.
Prepare monthly payment requisitions and change orders.
