Job summary

Independence Excavating is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to support project administration and management. You will assist the Project Manager and Superintendent with POs, RFIs, submittals, job costs and projections, and help grow into a full Project Manager role.

You will work on heavy civil construction projects, coordinating with local officials, vendors and owners, while maintaining schedules and budgets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or construction management or equivalent.
• 3+ years experience in heavy highway construction preferred.
• 2+ years in an Assistant Project Manager or Project Engineer role.
• Experience with construction management software (HCSS, Primavera, P6) is a plus.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks.

Responsibilities

• Read, understand and interpret drawings and specifications.
• Prepare and analyze project schedules and cost projections.
• Coordinate permits, subcontracts, and purchase orders.
• Assist in review of submittals and change orders.
• Support site safety, logistics, and stakeholder coordination.
