Job summary

Independence Excavating, Inc. is seeking a Heavy Civil Project Manager to lead project budgets, schedules, submittals, RFIs, and contracts while coordinating with owners and engineers.

The role reports to the Senior Project Manager and requires strong organization, leadership, and field coordination. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years managing large commercial construction projects, a positive client-facing attitude, and willingness to travel up to 25% to support multiple sites.

Qualifications

• Manage budgets, schedules, submittals, RFIs, contracts, and purchase orders.
• Coordinate with owners, project engineers, and local government offices.
• Travel up to 25% may be required.
• Develop positive working relationships with project stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, review, and return submittals for items to be manufactured or provided.
• Work with Superintendent/Operations Manager to determine equipment and crew needs.
• Assemble job cost codes for projects and regularly update.
• Coordinate subcontractors and material deliveries on major items.
• Review and approve subcontractor/supplier estimates and invoices.
• Negotiate, close, and coordinate all Extra Work Orders and CORs for changes in project scope.
• Monitor production, resource utilization and overall job cost versus estimated cost to maintain profit margin on projects.
• Prepare monthly job cost/profit projections.
