Job summary

The Assistant Project Manager at Layton Construction supports planning, management, and execution of assigned construction projects, potentially handling multiple projects. You will ensure quality, owner satisfaction, and profitability while building strong client relationships and promoting Layton's core values.

Responsibilities include pre-construction planning, cost control, subcontractor coordination, schedule development, change management, and documenting project progress with the team

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in construction management or related field or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years of experience in ground-up commercial construction projects.
• Strong communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of construction laws, codes, and blueprints.
• Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work with minimal supervision.
• Professional affiliations (e.g. AGC) and credentials (e.g. PE) preferred.
• Basic Spanish commands/communication in construction context preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, management, and execution of construction projects.
• Prepare estimates, project budgets, and unit cost reports.
• Coordinate pre-construction planning meetings and subcontract negotiations.
• Develop project management plans and execution strategies with the team.
• Participate in change orders, schedule updates, and cost control.
• Maintain owner relationships and ensure profitability and quality.
• Oversee procurement, subcontractor coordination, and close-out procedures.
• Support training and mentorship of project engineers and staff.
