Job summary

Layton Construction is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to help plan, manage, and execute work on assigned construction projects. You may handle multiple projects, ensuring quality, owner satisfaction, and profitability while cultivating customer relationships.

The role supports estimating, budgeting, scheduling, pre-construction planning, and coordination of subcontracts. Strong communication and problem-solving skills are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in construction management or related field or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years of experience in ground-up commercial construction projects.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills with stakeholders.
• Understands construction laws, building codes, and reads blueprints.
• Complies with Layton ethics and policies.
• Strong problem solving and organizational abilities.
• Able to plan actions, allocate resources, and work independently.

Responsibilities

• Support planning, management, and execution of assigned construction projects.
• Assist in preparing estimates, budgets, and cost reports.
• Lead pre-construction planning meetings and coordinate subcontracts.
• Develop project management plans and schedules with the team.
• Contribute to value engineering and project reviews.
• Coordinate plans, permits, and regulatory requirements as needed.
• Monitor quality, safety, and risk plans for the project.
• Maintain owner relationships and communicate project status.
• Ensure timely payments and manage subcontractor costs.
• Close-out procedures and project documentation coordination.
