Job summary

Layton Construction is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to support the planning, management, and execution of assigned construction projects. This on-site role may require relocation to project locations nationwide, with the posted location not necessarily reflecting the final site.

You will assist in preparing estimates, budgets, schedules, and coordinating with owners, architects, subcontractors, and field teams to deliver projects safely, on time, and within budget.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in ground-up commercial construction projects.
• Excellent communication and strong negotiation skills.
• Understanding of construction laws, codes, and blueprint reading.
• Professional ethics and adherence to company policies.
• Strong problem-solving and teamwork abilities.
• Ability to plan actions, allocate resources, and manage schedules.
• Spanish language basics are a plus.
• Proficiency with construction software and document management.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, management, and execution of assigned construction projects.
• Prepare estimates, project budgets, and unit cost reports.
• Organize pre-construction planning meetings and coordinate with subs.
• Develop project schedules and milestones with the project superintendent.
• Manage monthly client pay requests and ensure timely collections.
• Coordinate procurement of materials and equipment within budget.
• Review drawings, specifications, and permits; ensure compliance.
• Maintain owner relationships and support project closeout procedures.
• Mentor project and field engineers and support team members.
