Job summary

Layton Construction is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to assist in planning, management, and execution for assigned construction projects. This role requires relocation to the project site, with the relocation note stating the location shown does not reflect the project site.

You will coordinate with internal and external teams to meet quality standards, owner expectations, and profitability while fostering customer relationships and supporting Layton's philosophy of integrity and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in construction management or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years on ground-up commercial projects, preferably light industrial or cold storage.
• Strong written and verbal communication and negotiation skills.
• Knowledge of construction laws, codes, and blueprints.
• Ethical conduct aligned with Layton standards.
• Problem solving and data-driven decision making.
• Team player with ability to mentor others.
• Able to plan actions, allocate resources, and manage time effectively.
• Self-starter with goal-oriented drive.
• Spanish basics preferred.
• Proficiency with project management software and office tools.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, management, and execution of projects.
• Prepare estimates, budgets, and unit cost reports.
• Lead pre-construction planning meetings and subcontractor negotiations.
• Develop project schedules and milestones with the team.
• Manage change orders and impacts on schedule and cost.
• Coordinate close-out procedures, submittals, and vendor coordination.
• Maintain owner relationships and ensure quality, safety, and risk plans.
• Mentor project and field engineers and support continuous improvement.
